Services Provided

The goal of evaluation is to establish an accurate diagnosis and to assess psychological strengths and weaknesses relevant to a patient’s current condition. Every patient receives a careful evaluation during the first session, which lasts 60 – 90 minutes.

Dr. Wesner takes a detailed history of previous psychological and medical problems and treatments. Many new patients have had psychiatric care that may date back several years. Compiling a comprehensive picture of previous treatments, including inpatient, outpatient, medications, or counseling, can help him develop the best plan of action to make life better.

Also during the first session, Dr. Wesner interviews you about previous and present factors that may be pertinent to your condition. Your family history, your upbringing, your school and work history, your relationship patterns, and other life stressors are a few of these factors.

Follow up sessions involve psychotherapy to address personal, psychological, and social factors pertinent to the diagnosis and management of medical treatment. Follow up sessions are scheduled for 45 minutes.
